I miss American coffee shops - like the ones on those 90’s sitcoms, with the retro sofas and old wooden coffee tables….

Mourning. The boy sat reading for at least two hours, with a candle lit. I can attest to the fact that it was absolutely freezing, but he stayed.

In the Cemetery
I run a local photography group called the ECS Photographers. Weekly or bi-weekly we have meeting where we discuss our experiences and learn from each other. At each meeting we have a different location and theme. This week’s location of choice was the local cemetery.
It may seem a bit morbid, but there are many lovely things to be seen in a place where people take great care in making a beautiful place and putting beautiful stones and sculptures afoot their dearly deceased. The example above depicts the lovely formal gardening of many cemeteries and I love the perspective. For more images from this meeting in the cemetery click here.

Though short-lived, the Winterstad on Wilhelminaplein was a small reminder that Christmas is coming.
With hot wine and firepits and christmas trees, the holiday smells and feelings were everywhere. There were some local designers and artists at the event selling their works and children could paint candleholders or decorate cupcakes. A lot of fundraising was happening as well; for cancer research there were cyclists selling everything from beach towels to bread. A few local businesses were also there, making the most of the Christmas shopping season and enjoying the hot wine, themselves.
For additonal photos of this event, please view my flickr feed or look under the set “Eindhoven, NL” Cheers! -cjf
